About the "Mural Man" - Phillip Martin
“Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts,
and we are never, ever the same.”~Flavia Weedn

My murals have unique stories that lead me to them. The universe brings about unusual connections and I follow them. And, that certainly is the case for my murals in South Africa. My very first mural was in Namibia. You have to fly to South Africa first in order to get to Namibia. And, if I was going to fly to South Africa, I was going to stop in one of my most favorite cities in the world, Capetown. The very day I bought my ticket to Namibia, there was an email from South Africa awaiting me when I got home to my computer. Coenie introduced himself and asked what it would take for permission to use my art in some of his publications for the Dutch Reformed Church. I said, if he lived in Capetown, all it would take was a tour and some South African food. Alas, Coenie wasn't from Capetown. But, he flew there to meet me! So, that was the start of the friendship and the very beginning of my murals in South Africa. You were told in advance. I said that the murals happen because of unusual connections. I mean, seriously? Contact the very day I bought a ticket to Africa? I think the universe knows what it is doing. Amazing Facts: As of 2016, 48 unique murals have been created on 4 continents and 20 countries and at 48 different locations thanks to the Mural Man, Artist Phillip Martin.
