Steps 2 & 3: Ask Every Principal to Invest 1 Hour a Month
30 Minutes to Read 1 of the Leadership & Safety Series Each Month and also invest 30 Minutes to explore the Safe to Learn web site
The second and third steps are combined. The goal is to provide every principal and assistant principal access to a combination of eBooks included in the Leadership & Safety Series and Authors' eBooks. Each eBook is designed so that information can easily be shared with members of each school's crisis response team, teachers, staff and/or students. Each of the Safe to Learn Author's eBooks is dedicated to school safety; protecting our children; and supports schools safety plans.
Invest 30 minutes a month to read a blog, check out our books & store, discover what treasures Safe to Learn is providing for FREE, read about an amazing educator, explore of the world, follow Let's Talk, read about documentaries featuring education and/or teachers, or take the time to submit an idea or project to the Safe to Learn .
Step 4: Ask Each Principal to Share Ideas and Information with Staff and School Safety Team Members
The fourth step is to ask each principal to share some ideas and lessons learned with their staff and also members of their School Crisis Teams (SCT) / School Incident Response Teams (SIRT).

Step 6 - Practice , Practice and Practice
The most important step to remember is Step 6 - make the time to practice safety and participate in drills each month. Also remind yourself and your staff to remember that it takes practice to learn any skill and even more practice if the skill requires team coordination and cooperation. Ada Rosario Dolch reminds us that, "Our goal is to always remain a community of caring people with the same mission: Providing what is best for all children and keeping them safe so they will be able to learn."
