Stand with Me Today - September 11th
by Diana J. Savage

In the hustle of everyday life it can be easy to forget the day we all sat in forced silence and watched as a corner of our country fell to ruin.
A day all we wanted was to be with one another and to help. That day we made ourselves many promises. However, the pace of life lends itself to a dulling of the noisy passion from which those promises sprang. Today let's turn up the volume and not forget our promises to ourselves.
Let's not forget that we promised ourselves that we would never stop coming together. To stand next to one another, and not against each other. That we would never stop honoring the ones who answer the screaming tones of duty - even if it is their last.
Let's not forget that we would never not say "I love you" to ever single person as we close the door behind them. So, today I ask you to please stand with me and honor all the people you love. Tell them. Then, tell them again tomorrow, and every day that follows.
Today I also ask, if you are given the chance, do something for a first responder - buy him/her a coffee if you see them at Starbucks, drop off some cookies or just stop into the fire house and remind them, that you appreciate their lives - that it means a lot to have them at the end of the line when you pick up the phone.
Finally, I want you all to know I love you. I am grateful to have you as part of my journey, and I am so thankful to know you, and watch you live your lives.
Live everyday with intention - learn - grow - love
