Jessika Savage, BFA - Graphic Designer & Photographer
Jessika is hard at work for the Safe to Learn Project. You will also find many of her photographs included in the Safe to Learn Project materials and web site.
After her graduation from Cornish College of the Arts with her BFA in graphic design on May 15, 2007, she became a graphic designer at Visual Imagry, Inc. She was responsible for designing all marketing materials for VIPlanning® Software and Online Services; and also data entry for school and city web-based plans. While attending Cornish, Jessika worked as an intern at Visual Imagry. When Visual Imagry was awarded a contract to develop web-based plans for the Washoe County School District (WCSD) and Humboldt County School District (HCSD) in Nevada, she was responsible for 360 movie photography for both school districts. Her first assignment required traveling to Nevada to take 360 digital photographs at the 94 school facilities in the WCSD and at the 16 school facilities in the HCSD. During her three-month summer assignment, she visited every school, bus yard and administration building in both districts taking 7,500 digital 360 photographic images. During her senior year at Cornish, Jessika realized the importance of the link between animal abuse and child abuse. Vickee Greer and her husband, Jim, were in the process of launching a non-profit. Jessika focused all her creative energy into creating the campaign for Greer Foundation that included logo design, marketing materials and designing 3 teacher training books that Vickee Greer was planning to use for violence prevention training for elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. Jessika Savage's senior thesis project featured her original design concepts were developed for The Greer Foundation and to fulfill Vickee and Jim Greer's dream. Artist Statement
by Jessika Savage "I think my real job as a designer is to find as many answers to the same problem as I can; searching and seeking out what is possible until I find that magical starting point called inspiration." |
Determined to Make a Dream Come True!
The Safe to Learn Team, Dee Beaugez, Denise Langston and Jessika Savage are working together to ensure that part of Vickee's dream comes true. Her motto was "Forever Hope." Vickee explained that "hope" was ..."healing outreach and promoting education."
All who have had the privilege to work with Vickee Greer recognized her devotion and endless courage was truly inspirational. Violence prevention, public health preparedness and emergency management proved her to be a true leader, first responder, role model and mentor. She dedicated her life to helping educate and protect the children. She lost her battle with cancer on February 12, 2007 but was able to see fulfillment of one of her life-long dreams when she received her Master’s Degree in 2007. Her husband Jim Greer supported Vickee's dream and Jessika's creativity to help fulfill Vickee's dreams. Jim Greer continued to encourage Jessika and the Safe to Learn team to move forward.
With great sadness Jim Greer lost his battle with caner in June 2015.
