The Mural Man Helps U.S. Embassy Combat Stigmatization
of Ebola Survivors and Their Families in Liberia
Artist Phillip Martin traveled to Liberia, Africa in March of 2016 to paint two murals to raise awareness of and combat the stigmatization of Ebola survivors. The U.S. Embassy Monrovia sponsored the project in Liberia that called for identifying two towns impacted by Ebola and creating 2 community mural projects that would integrate Ebola survivors and/or family members with other community members. Working with persons impacted directly by Ebola, Phillip designed and created a mural in Zwedru and at Zorzor Rural Teachers Training Institute reflecting input from the community. |
