Dr. Thomas (Tom) Horton is a retired History Instructor from the Porter-Gaud School (Episcopal) in Charleston, South Carolina. He taught history there since 1986 and retired in June 2015 to begin a new chapter in his life as a full-time author.
Dr. Horton was born in Charleston, S.C., 1950 and is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Ira B. Horton, Jr.
He graduated with his B.A. from The Citadel, 1972 and then began serving in the United States Air Force from 1972 to 1976. He received his Doctorate from University of South Carolina in 1992. Dr. Horton understands the importance of keeping balance in his life and is an avid kayaker, and fly fisherman.
He has researched and written a 5-book series, History's Lost Moments, The Stories Your Teacher Never Told You.
His love of history is also shared with his wife and best friend, Laura Millicent Bull Horton. The dedication he penned for History's Lost Moments Volume V expresses Dr. Horton's joy for sharing his love of history with her, "To the Glory of God, Amen. This volume of History's Lost Moments is dedicated to Millie Bull Horton - soul-mate, best friend and proofreader."
