Safe to Learn Community Pilot Project  

Because of Lamar Consolidated Independent School District’s (LCISD) dedication to emergency preparedness and school safety, LCISD was selected to participate in the Safe to Learn ©  Community Pilot Project.  Principals, assistant principals and administrators were asked to provide feed-back about Safe to Learn's Leadership and Safety Series and eBooks, authored by educators and safety subject matter experts.  Several principals and assistant principals were selected at the start of the project to participate in the Safe to Learn Community Pilot Project. Over several years many other principals, assistant principals and district administrators participated in the Pilot Project.  Our team listened to their feed-back, experiences; issues and suggestions for creating additional safety solutions and providing specific types of resources.  It is through teamwork, trust and respect that the Safe to Learn Community Pilot Project evolved into what it is today.  It is because of leadership and support from the District Administration that the Safe to Learn Community Pilot Project was possible.

    Ada Rosario Dolch served as the principal of the High School for Leadership and Public Service in lower Manhattan, New York for six years when she and her staff confronted the ultimate challenge on September 11, 2001.  She is currently  a Professional Development and Leadership consultant  and author  of Principles for Principals - Leading the Way to School Safety.

Next she moved into administration but continued to work in Title One schools. She retired two years ago and  is now spend her time tutoring struggling students
