Child Hunger Facts & Resources
- According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), 15.3 million children under 18 in the United States live in households where they are unable to consistently access enough nutritious food necessary for a healthy life.[i]
- During the 2014 federal fiscal year, more than 21.5 million low-income children received free or reduced-price meals daily through the National School Lunch Program.[xi] Unfortunately, in 2014 fewer than 2.7 million children participated daily in the Summer Food Service Program.[xii]

Three organizations that are working to end childhood hunger in the United States:
- No Kid Hungry (Share Our Strength) --
The "No Kid Hungry" campaign aims to end childhood hunger in America by connecting children in need with nutritious food and teaching families how to cook healthy budget-friendly meals.
- Great Nations Eat --
"Great Nations Eat" program was inspired by the documentary "A Place At The Table." GNE is working to end child hunger in America by connecting children to nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals.
- Feeding America -- This nonprofit is a nationwide network of food banks that feeds more that 46 million people through pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and many other community-based agencies across the United States.
