Lessons Learned after Hurricane Ike
This eBook will be included in the Leadership and Safety Series and is written by a former School Superintendent from the point of an evacuee, whose community was devastated by Hurricane Ike, She talks about new lessons after those she learned from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and how these lessons have once again provided a new perspective. This Guide is written through the eyes of someone who was blessed by sustaining little personal damage and loss, but someone who became a firsthand observer and provider of help to others who suffered untold loss and devastation. She concludes by writing that the one lesson that continues to be reinforced for her as a school administrator is, “We are in charge of people’s most important treasures: their children.”
by Kay Karr, President of Responsive Learning and retired Superintendent (Texas)
