I discovered I loved photography when I was a student traveling around the world. For some reason, I just saw things from a different point of view and no matter what kinds of a camera I owned, the images I captures seemed to capture special moments in time.
I began my career as a writer/photographer in the 1970's while working in Palm Springs, California at the Desert Sun Newspaper in the Desert Living Section. I worked and saved until I could buy my first Nixon camera and I from that day forward I have somehow managed to continue capturing moments and sharing visual stories. Soon I found myself working for a small public relations company in Palm Springs and I was assigned to work on the College of the Desert account, along with the owner. My love of photography provided me the opportunity to spend time taking photos and studying my craft.
I made up my mind I want to go back to school for a Master's Degree and I moved to Reno, Nevada. It was while attending the University of Nevada, Reno and that is when I discovered the magic of the darkroom. I would spend hours printing black-and-white images until I achieved the exact tones. The images on this page are from that time. I also gain even more experience in printing black-and-while images and sharing visual stories when I was employed at the the Reno Evening Gazette & Nevada State Journal.
“You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen,
the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” ~Ansel Adams
