"Why Plan?" School-Centered Emergency Management Video Produced by Schools for Schools
Why Plan? is an award-winning, 25 minute video of how Texas schools responded to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. It explores the challenges that Texas school districts faced during and after hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Responsive Learning, along with an extremely talented team of professionals, set forth on a mission to create a documentary to capture the story of how school districts were affected by the impact of the hurricanes, how they dealt with them, and the lessons they learned in the process.
After experiencing Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Kay Karr, working with Responsive Learning, served as the Executive Producer of the video, “Why Plan”.
The production team traveled throughout Texas to capture the story of how school districts were affected by the impact of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, how they dealt with them, and the lessons they learned in the process. All of these experiences have caused her to be passionately committed to school-centered emergency management and the mission of helping schools to be better prepared.
