America lost a true leader who always put children and their safety first - Principal Susan Jordan. When a school bus lurched forward, jumping the curve headed towards the students, Principal Jordan followed her instincts and pushed students out of the way and was fatally hit in the process. For over 22 years Principal Jordan was, and still is, the inspiration leadership for the students at the Amy Beverland Elementary School. Last May the 6th grade class produced an appreciation video with credits at the end that read: "We love you Mrs. Jordan! ..." Hartford Courant News
Please remember Principal Susan Jordan and all the school administrators who go to work at every school every day understanding the commitment they have made to keep our children safe. Stop and think about the responsibility of every school administrator. I have often heard principals say after a hard day, “I am not complaining because I signed up for the job. I love leading those who devote their lives to education, as well as accept the responsibility of keeping our children safe.”
When you hear the music “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” please take a moment and think of Principal Susan Jordan and her love of learning and the role model she is for each of her students. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, as well as those of us who read her story and read the words of her students, "We love you Mrs. Jordan!."
